The meaning of LONG LIFE puja - LAMA CHOPA (with Request to the Dakinis)

The Long Life Puja is a traditional offering puja to a Guru (teacher). Based on the practice of the Lama Chopa Guru Puja, it creates the cause for the lama to live long and remain among us.

"To understand why a long life puja is essential, we must understand the value of our guru (teacher). He is our guide in this life, the bardo, and future lives for the dharma. He is immensely important to us. It is not a case where if we ask him to live long life, he will.

And vice versa, but that to offer such a ceremony purifies our own broken samayas with him. When we break samaya - " looking like dharma practitioners on the outside, but not practicing dharma as practitioners on the inside " - the dakas and dakinis come and make many requests to the lama: " Leave these disciples and come to the pure realms! "

This is also one of the reason why Guru Buddha Sakyamuni Buddha passed away, because of lack of requests from his disciples to ask him to stay. As, and many requests from Arhats to ask him to go to the pureland, and so forth, Sakyamuni had pass away."
