Live Webcasts from the Kalachakra Teaching

There will be live webcasts from the Kalachakra Teaching in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, India,

from January 1-10, 2012.

From 17 Dec 2011, most of the monastery monks n school student, are leaving for HH Dalai Lama Kalachakra teaching in India Bodh Gaya till 2012 January.


Kalachakra in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, India from December 31 to January 10: During the first three days of the Kalachakra, from December 31, 2011 to January 2, 2012, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, along with the monks of Namgyal Monastery and senior lamas, will conduct rituals which prepare and consecrate the venue. These include chanting of prayers, creation of the sand mandala and other rituals. From January 3 to 5, His Holiness will give preliminary teachings on Kamalashila's The Middling States of Meditation (gomrim barpa), Gyalsey Thokme Sangpo's 37 Practices of A Boddhisattva (laklen sodunma), Geshe Langri Thangpa's Eight Verses of Training the Mind (lojong tsik gyema), Nagarjuna's The Praise to the World Transcendent (jigten ley deypar toepa) & Khunu Lama Tenzin Gyaltsen's The Precious Lamp in Praise of Bodhicitta (jangchup sem kyi toepa rinchen drolma). On January 6, the Kalachakra Ritual Dance will be performed by the monks of Namgyal Monastery. His Holiness will confer the Kalachakra Initiation from January 7 to 9. On January 10, a long life empowerment (tsewang) and a ceremony offering prayers for the long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be performed.

A Prayer for the Quick Return of Khensur Rinpoche Jampa Yeshe

On 29/07/2011 in the morning, His Holiness Khensur Rinpoche Jampa Yeshe went into Nirvana (passed away) in India, at the age of 82. His Holiness Khensur Rinpoche Jampa Yeshe was a master of the highest calibre in dharma and was a very compassionate Lama of Gaden.

January 29th Saturday, by early morning around 6 am arrived to the Bangalore International Airport and waited for arrival of HHDL. It was quite cold outside of the Airport. Waited until 8.30am then we were given access to the VIP lounge and waited there for some time. Finally around 9am His Holiness arrived to the lounge and then we had good time together with His Holiness. Around 9.30am His Holiness' motorcade left the Airport to board the Chopper and we headed back to the monastery. We had mid day meal on the way back and by late evening arrived back to Gaden.
January 30th Sunday, attended the speech by Honorable Prime Minister of Tibetan Govt. Ven. Samdhong Rinpoche at the Gaden lachi Monastery.
January 31st Monday, In the morning I went to Hubli along with other abbots to receive His Holiness at the Hubli Airport. On His Holiness' arrival we offered Khatas and greeted him. Then we joined the motorcade of His Holiness towards Mundgod. In Mundgod His Holiness' motorcade directly received at Rato Monastery, where His Holiness was offered special reception and he did the inauguration of the New Prayer Hall, we had lunch and then His Holiness did inspection of debate presentation. From there we went to the Drepung Lachi and joined the reception function.
February 1st Tuesday, First session of teachings by His Holiness the jenang (permission posterior) of 21 Taras. Followed by the oral transmission of notes on Mulamadhayamikakarika, written by His Holiness. In the afternoon His Holiness arrived to Gaden Jangtse Monastery for General meeting of public. I joined this important meeting along with other abbots. After that function His Holiness visited vocational college and by 4pm His Holiness' motorcade was back to Drepung lachi.
February 2nd Wednesday, continued the teachings, oral transmission of notes on Mulamadhayamikakarika. In the afternoon His Holiness did inspection of debate presentation at Gomang Monastery. Beside there was a short function of Lameen Gegeen Rinpoche.
February 3rd Thursday, this morning one final session of the oral transmission of notes on Mulamadhayamikakarika. Later inspection of debate demonstration at Drepung Loseling Monastery by His Holiness. After that His Holiness moved to Gaden Jangtse Monastery by motorcade and first presided a Bhumtsog puja done by Gajang monks.
February 4th Friday, His Holiness addressed an Indian group at Gaden Jangtse Monastery. After that His Holiness arrived to Gaden Lachi and we had a reception function in the Gaden Lachi. Than His Holiness paid a visit to Nyingma Monastery and inaugurated the New Prayer Hall of Nyingma Monastery. After that His Holiness visited the Nunnery and did inspection of debate presentation by the nuns. In the afternoon His Holiness did inspection of debate presentation by the Gaden Jangtse Monks.
February 5th Saturday, early morning we the six abbots of three major monasteries had a special audience with His Holiness. From Gajang His Holiness very graciously moved to the Gaden Shartse Monastery. As soon as the reception function in Gaden Shartse was over His Holiness begin preparation for the Yamentaka Initiation. After the Yamentaka Initiation His Holiness went up stairs to the rest room and then returned backt to the Main Prayer and did the preparatory rites of Yamentaka through the morning session and then after the lunch His Holiness did the actual initiation of Yamentaka. I offered the requesting Mandala and the sponsors of the Initiation offered the thank you Mandala.
February 6th Sunday, by 8,30am His Holiness descended to the Main Prayer Hall and did the preparation for the Jenang Initiation of Buddha Maitreya. After that His Holiness bestowed the Jenang Initiation of Buddha Maitreya and then we did long life Puja and offered the Long life offerings to His Holiness. After the long life puja and offerings His Holiness had lunch. In the afternoon His Holiness did inspection of debate presentation at Gaden Shartse debate courtyard. The final major program of His Holiness during this visit to Gaden Shartse Monastery in 2011.
February 7th Monday, early morning we the elite body of administration of Gaden Shartse Monastery had special blessings session with His Holiness. After that around 7am His Holiness left the monastery towards Goa by Motorcade. I jumped in my car to see off His Holiness on the way to Goa. We the abbots of six major monasteries of Densasum had very special meeting in the meeting hall of Gaden Lachi.
February 8th Tuesday, I prepared the resolution passed in the yesterdays special meeting of six abbots and distributed the same to all abbots and other person related to the matter contained therein. I led prayer gathering in Gaden Shartse and thanked everyone for their support to make this visit of His Holiness to Gaden Shartse Monastery great success. I met many visitors at my residence.
February 9th Wednesday, I led puja session Geshe Tongo at Gaden Shartse Monastery. I met Susan, she came to say hello to me before leaving the monastery. Mark and his GF also came to see me we had good talk. I went to Mundgod and Hubli to remit money to Tharpa.
February 10th Thursday, I led the long life puja and offerings prayer session at Gaden Shartse Monastery. Geshe Dorje Gyaltsen and group sponsored the long life offerings to both Khensur Rinpoche's. After the Tenshug I spent time together with my Dad and Decky Dolkar and family. It was good to meet relatives at my residence and offer a lunch to them. We had lot of things to chat for. I met many visitors at my residence. The Gaden Shartse Monastery offered a lunch party and I expressed thanks to everyone involved in preparation for the visit of His Holiness to Gaden Shartse Monastery in Mundgod.
February 11th Friday, this day is Rabjampa offering day thus the Rabjampas offered tea and bread in the Main Prayer Hall of Gaden Monastery to all sangha members from both (Shartse and Jangtse) monasteries. Later after the Mangja I led a special prayer gathering (Geshe Tongo) of Jangchup Thubten at Gaden Shartse Monastery. All the Rabjampas came to receive blessings and take picture with me. The organizing committee offered special lunch to all the monks participated in preparation for visit of His Holiness to Gaden Shartse. I expressed the word of thanks to everyone on behalf of Gaden Shartse Monastery.

CHANGES IN THE TEACHING SCHEDULE AT GADEN SHARTSE MONASTERY

  • Please note these recent changes in the schedule of His Holiness' visit and teachings at Gaden Shartse Monastery.
  • Instead of previously fixed date and timing we have these changes made by the Office of His Holiness from Dharamsala.
  • We are extremely sorry of inconvenience caused to all over friends, students, sponsors and devotees planning to visit us and join us on the unprecedented Holy event led by His Holiness Dalai Lama in Gaden Shartse Monastery.
  • His Holiness will arrive to Mundgod on 31st January 2011. Initially teach at Drepung monastery and then visit Gaden and Nyingma Monastery, teach at Gaden Shartse Monastery on 5th & 6th February and depart from Mundgod on 7th February.

The preparatory rites and initiation of Yamantaka is now fixed

on

5th February 2011 Saturday.

The Jenang initiation of Buddha Maitreya and long life prayer offerings to His Holiness is now fixed on

6th February 2011 Sunday.

1/12/2010 - Anniversary of Great Lama Tsong Khapa, the founder of Gaden Monastery

In the Tibetan Gelug tradition on 30/11/2010 and 01/12/2010monastery will offer many lights, prayer & a lots of offering on Lama Tsong Khapa day. Lama Tsong Khapa was identified as an emananiation of  Manjushri (embodiment of all Buddha's wisdom), as Avalokiteshvara (embodiment of all Buddha's compassion), and as a Vajrapani (embodiment of all Buddha's ability).

Long Life Puja

Sunday 29th August, Khen Rinpoche Jangchup Choeden led the Long Life Offering Ceremony (Puja) offer by Albert and Lynda to His Eminence Khensur Jampa Yeshe Rinpoche and Khensur Konchok Tsering Rinpoche. It is the first (Tenshug) offering offered to both Khensur Rinpoche's together. Also we did the consecration to the newly build up statue of Shri Kalachakra and various other statues at the Kalachakra Institute of Gaden Shartse Monastery.

The Heart Sutra and 37 Practices of a Bodhisattva

His Holiness the Dalai Lama will give three-day teachings on The Heart Sutra (sherab nyingpo) & Gyalsey Thokme Sangpo's 37 Practices of A Bodhisattva (gyalsey laklen sodunma) at the request of a group from Southeast Asia. The teachings will be  from the Main Tibetan Temple in Dharamsala, on September 8-10, 2010.

His Holiness Kyabje Lati Rinpoche make offerings (sponsorship) to built - Bell and Light Offering Tower, which was completed on - August 5, 2009. The purpose of building this Bell Tower is specially for dharma debating session. Upon stricking the bell all Sanghas will have to assemble at the debating courtyard for debating. School of Education

Gaden Shartse Norling college- Education in all aspects of Buddhist Philosophy and practice is the focal point of the academic program. The duration of the monastic education is 24 years.Accommodation, food and education are all provided for by Gaden Shartse Monastery Education Development Project. Shartse offers complete basic courses in Tibetan History, Literature, Poetry, Grammar, English, and Mathematics, which are studied as prerequisites for the more advanced courses of Elementary Dialectics, Buddhist Logic, The Six Perfections, the Prajnaparamita (the study of Wisdom/ the Heart Sutra), Madhyamika (Middel Way) Philosophy, Vinaya (Ethics), and Abidharma (Epistomology). it is also compulsory to study Buddhist Sutra and Tantra. Additionally, there are optional subjects such as Painting, Calligraphy, Tailoring, Tibetan Butter Sculpture formation, and Sand mandala creation. The training program also encourages its students to independently pursue and practice profound Buddhist rituals and to complete extensive solitary retreats.
